Subtitle Edit (also referred to as SE) may be a free and open-source subtitle editor to make , edit, adjust or synchronize subtitles for videos. the appliance features a very easy to use interface containing an inventory of existing subtitles, a wave form to see audio waves and a player which seems like Windows Media Player 11. It uses the VLC media player, MPC-HC, Mpv or DirectShow to play videos.
SE supports 250+ subtitle formats. a number of the foremost popular formats are SubRip, Timed Text, SubStation Alpha, MicroDVD, SAMI, D-Cinema and BdSub.
SE is out there in 34 languages and contains most of the features of a subtitle editor.
SE is developed and maintained by a software developer, Nikolaj Lynge Olsson from Denmark. it's hosted at GitHub.
Development
In 2001 Nikolaj Lynge Olsson had started the event on Subtitle Edit in Delphi which continued until April 2009. On 6 March 2009, 2.0 Beta 1 version (build 42401) was released. it had been rewritten in C#.
Over time more developers have contributed to SE's development and it's still active.
On May 17, 2011 the developer announced the testing version of SE 3.2 for GNU/Linux. It uses an equivalent ASCII text file that was developed for Windows, to implement it on GNU/Linux using Mono Project.
On October 17, 2011 the developer announced the supply of stable version for GNU/Linux. The developer himself stated that it's working well on Ubuntu.
